$195
Shitoro Yaki is a 900 year old style of of ceramics that originated in southwest Shizuoka Prefecture. The clay from this area is high in ferric oxides and tends to create yellow and red colors in both the clay and glaze. Our Shitoro Yaki Kyusu was made by second generation potter Rito Aoshima. His studio is based the town of Kanaya, the center of the Shitoro Yaki ceramic production. He studied many styles of ceramics before settling in his father's studio, where he preserves this traditional ceramic style. Each Kyusu is exquisitely hand-crafted, and unique so the shipped pieces may not exactly match the photo. It is approximately 450 ml by volume and best suited for lightly-steamed (asamushi) tea.
